Antony Firangi

Description: 'Antony Firangee' won Uttam Kumar the first ever National Award for Best Male Actor. The film, directed by Sunil Banerjee, is based on the life of Hensman Anthony, a Portuguese-Indian who later became a famous Bengali poet and musician and was popularly known as Antony Firangee (or Anthony Firingee). Anthony is said to hae fellen in love with Shakila, a courtesan, but their love story, apparently, had ended tragically.
